Located in Exeter, New Hampshire, Philip Exeter Academy is a venerable New England prep school.

At Exeter, Louis Kahn wrapped the book carrels around a light filled central courtyard. The brick exterior is in keeping with New England building traditions, and the teak windows are an expression of the carrels that nestle behind them.

Kahn received the commission in 1967. The building was completed in 1972.
