Jaipur is a city in western India with a population of approximately 1.5 million people. It is the capital of the state of Rajasthan.

Founded in AD 1727 by Sawai Jaisingh II, Jaipur is popularly known as the Pink City.

The city is surrounded by a ten kilometer long wall with eight gates. Within the city, atop a rocky hill, stands the massive Amber Palace, 120 meters above the plains.
