Sir John Soane, a noted English architect, opened his house to his students in 1806 when he was appointed  Professor of Architecture at the Royal Academy in London.

Located at 13 Lincoln's Inns Fields in London, Soane's house was designated as a museum by an act of the British Parliament in 1833.

The house contains an eclectic collection of Victorian art, sculpture, books and furniture in a series of intricately designed chambers and galleries.
