Virtual TourFew temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints make a more dramatic impression than the San Diego California Temple. With 10 spires of different heights clearly visible from the highly traveled San Diego Freeway, the gleaming white temple attracts the attention of thousands of passersby every day. The finish of the building’s exterior is provided by marble chips in plaster. The temple also features roof gardens and intricate stained glass. It is located only a few miles from where members of the Mormon Battalion helped to build what is now San Diego’s Old Town after they arrived there in 1847. The Temple was opened in 1993. |
